Root canals have long had a bad reputation and we'd like to change that.
Some patients are diagnosed with a tooth infection before the pain starts, but for an unfortunate few it's not until they are in extreme pain that the infection is detected. This is when we need to do a root canal, which will help to reduce your pain and save your tooth!
Root canal therapy is done to remove infection from deep within a tooth, ultimately preserving the natural tooth structure. The process is carried out over two (but sometimes more) appointments that are usually one month apart. During the first appointment, the nerve in the tooth will be removed and antibiotics will be placed inside. The second appointment will consist of the dentist removing the antibiotics, checking the infection is gone and sealing off the tooth to prevent any further infection from getting in there.
